1. Jumia Black Friday - Although Black Friday is officially on the 25th of this month, but online retailer Jumia in Nigeria is running a 12 days discount marathon where each day, they'll have different discounted products on sale, they have different themes from Home and appliances, to Kitchen etc, everyone loves a bargain and people have been trooping in to make the most of this discount, typically the site is usually jammed around this period from previous experience.




2. EPL - The English Premier League was upon us again this weekend (Saturday results only) after the international break, where the bitter rivalry between  Jose Mourinho of Manchester United and Arsene Wenger of Arsenal occurred. Again Arsene Wenger wasn't able to defeat the Portuguese coach, in a competitive game , as the game between Manchester United and Arsenal ended as a draw, although Wenger will be delighted with a point at Old Trafford with a late equalizer from Giroud. Liverpool could only manage a goalless draw away at Southampton,a shocker as the best attacking team in the Premier league this season Liverpool could not find the back of the net, other results were pretty much normal, Man city won against Crystal palace and are now level on point with Liverpool FC, with 27 points, although Chelsea has a game away at Middlesbrough which could see them climb top of the group if they win.


3. Mannequin Challenge -  This is where a video will be rolling and you remain stationary of frozen  like a mannequin and this has been trending, It apparently started in October 2016 and has since grown popularity online with different professionals , celebrities and others partaking in the challenge. The phenomenon which apparently was started by students in Jacksonville has inspired works by other groups, especially professional athletes and sports teams that have posted increasingly complex and elaborate videos.





4. Sambo Dasuki - The former National Security Adviser under the past Goodluck Jonathan regime in Nigeria lost his Father Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki the former Sultan of Sokoto  and he was buried in the week, Col. Dasuki Sambo (rtd) is currently on trial and in detention in Nigeria and there are several stories and he was not allowed to attend his father's burial since he stopped the current President Muhammadu Buhari from attending his mother's burial when he was under detention during the Ibrahim Babagida regim although the FG has denied this claim,but some people feel his trail and all that surrounds his current ordeal is nothing but a witch hunt.






5. ASUU Strike - The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Nigeria , started a 1 week strike over apparent failure of the Federal Government to honour agreement it reached in 2009, and other reasons. ASUU strike is a usual occurrence in Nigeria, forcing students to stay in Universities longer than the required period of studies, this has forced those with the means to opt for private Universities to avoid this and many others that they'll usually face in public Universities in Nigeria.
