My New Year resolution?

Typically as the year comes to an end, some of us start to reflect on what had or has transpired during the year from January 1st to today, the good, the bad and sometimes ugly events that have happened, it has been a very tough year to say the least, economically Nigeria went into recession, the prices of goods and services increased, wages remained the same in some cases people were even sacked from their jobs,  Donald Trump won the US presidential election, Sambisa forest was apparently captured, Linda Ikeji released several videos, we heard of Sambo Dasuki aka #Dasukigate, there were a lot of media trails, and so many other issues.
But as for me personally I started thenaijalisting.blogspot.com somewhere in May and we have been growing stronger, It has been a learning process all along and I'm not perfect, even other contributors aren't, so your feedback will be highly appreciated, although "Adsense" feels we are not unique or the contents that are posted here are not interesting enough, but I beg to differ, I tried to find topics that were trending for some months back and I couldn't find them on the web, maybe that type of information is available to those working for GOOGLE or other search engines, but it is indeed unique, because it is done with "our" own flavor.

This probably sounds more like a 2017 goal, rather that a resolution, but however you look at it. I am happy we made it thus far.

So for the coming year the only resolution that I am making public is that I will keep blogging!!!

So whats your New year resolution?

Top 3 gainers from MMM scheme

Well I was thinking very hard, and like they say, too much of everything is bad, and even the good things can hurt you in excess, although with MMM and the likes it is clearly stated that it isn't an investment and you should engage in it with your "spare" cash, probably signalling it has or had a "best before" date, Although they have maintained that the "pause" or freezing of the accounts was only done to safe guard the system which is understandable , I sat down and thought about those that have made money off this scheme apart from the participants, which I'll list below and try to explain how.

1. Telecommunications companies- They are the highest gainers from MMM and the likes, because when a participant is matched with another person, his or her phone number is provided and quite often, participants will call each other to ensure there is someone "human" being on the other side of the line, and, the alert you receive also and sometimes some guiders go as far as texting participants when they are matched also since everything is done online you'll have to buy Data bundles to keep up with your account and happenings,
For the sake of further calculations according to MMM's website there are 2 million registered participants, for further calculations we assume about half, that is 50% of them are active which is  1 million active users, hence forth.

*lets assume calls are 10 naira per minute and you are matched with 3 people and to complete each transaction you probably spend at least 3 minutes and for calls we'll use 75% of the total number of active users.

10*750000*3*3= 67500000 ( in one month)
in the last 4 months, that's over 270 million naira,
This is for calls only, by the time we add Data charges and Text messages, that amount will probably triple

These fruits will make you remember Nigeria

Nigeria is a tropical country located in West Africa with very wonderful climatic condition, dryand hot to the North and humid around the South were it borders the Atlantic ocean, In Nigeria there are several seasonal fruits and for very poor methods of preservation, we cannot enjoy most of these fruits all yyear round, these are not your popular fruits like Apples, guava, bananas etc although Nigeria has them abundantly these fruits reek of "naija" and a true Nigerian must have tasted most if not all of these, pardon me for the spelling and if you know these fruits by other names I have not mentioned please write them in the comment box below and they'll be updated accordingly.

1. Udara (Agbalumo)  "Chrysophyllum albidum" - This fruit is very juicy with somewhat sour juice, the none sweet once cannot be eaten with your eyes open because (it slaps)when you do. I can imagine my facial expression when eating these, not just good for fruits, the skin sometimes is chewed like chewing gum and kids use part of the seed to make ear rings, temporary ones though.

Bobrisky brouhaha

Yes quite often we digress a little on thenaijalisting.blogspot.com to address some pressing issues or not so pressing in Nigeria or those concerning Nigerians, actually this topic is one I have been waiting to do justice to for quite sometime now. The name Bobrisky is so popular on the internet that some people now feel it is a slang for something else.

So what or who is Bobrisky?

Bobrisky is an internet sensation in Nigeria, a male cross dresser or gender blender whose real name is Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju , he is into skin "whitening" or "bleaching" as it is quite popular in Nigeria amongs the ladies he claims he only does all this to attract customers, he is quite active on snapchat and Instagram constantly posting photos and videos which some feel is provoking, but what's interesting about all this is that somehow the young man has made a name for himself, in a country of over 180 million Nigerians all struggling for one way or the other to survive, to come up with an idea like this is actually "genius" this is because Bobrisky drives traffics to a lot of blogs even the popular Linda Ikeji's blog is feeding fat off Bobrisky, In other climes he probably should have started his own clothing line, make up line etc, maybe even designing interior of vehicles and even much more, a random Google search about Bobrisky over 700 k results, at one time he was the most searched person in Nigeria according to Google.

1. Ultimate Cycler.- At the rate this one is going, it probably would top MMM office soon on alexa. there is so much interest about this Ponzi scheme and the site has finally been re-lunched as touted by its founder Peter Wolfing for so many weeks after it suddenly gained popularity and immediately the site went down, Although some Nigerians are still soaking off the MMM office "Freezing " of getting help, people are still very optimistic about this one, although we must understand that if it is too good to be true, it often is too good to be true and nothing good of course lasts forever.
partake in these schemes at your own risk.

Is there anything like too much education?

Yesterday I saw a post online that a Nigerian Dr Osato Osemwengie  bagged his 6th Masters degree and he'll soon enroll for his 7th and also going for his 4th PhD. I couldn't help but pause and felt a bit disgusted although this may not be the most "educated" Nigerian or the Nigerian with the most degrees but I personally felt disgusted., the reason why is that I personally feel there are several ways to go about these things and bagging degrees doesn't necessarily mean bagging knowledge and sometimes it may just be an obsession or trying to beat a record or something because. I do not know the highest number of degrees a person has earned in the world but I just feel there is a need to be content, especially if most of these degrees were on scholarship, which of course I suspect they will, isn't that wicked?

If they are from personal funds, isn't that also wicked? and something to be bothered about? The cost of education is not cheap anywhere in the world at the same time there are several people that cannot afford this basic necessity so although I feel it is nice to get a couple of degrees and gain knowledge, I still feel there is a need to know where to say this is too much and allow for others that cannot afford or get access to it do so.

So this led me to do some research and stumbled on the fact that there are some people with as many as 29 college degrees!!! I mean 29 , , even Robert Mugabe president of Zimbabwe has over 7 degrees.

Just wondering when too much is really too much.

Thank you.

A list of money "spinning" schemes in Nigeria.

*Disclaimer warning : We are in no way promoting any of these schemes and  if you engage in them  you are doing so at your own risk!.

1. MMM - This is probably the king of the money spinning / mutual financing or ponzi scheme in Nigeria, apparently they've been around for about 1 year now but they recently made headlines yesterday when they apparently "froze" the accounts of participants from "GETTING HELP" even after their donations have been confirmed. Which many say is just the beginning of an end to the scheme, that has raised so much dust in Nigeria, both those that are for it and those that are against it.

2. Giversforum- A lot of people will call them "MMM copy paste" as they are similar to MMM but this time offering more mouth watering % on donations to members, their website had some issues for over a week and there was panic among participants, but it seems everything is now back to normal.

3. iCharity - I don't know much about this scheme personally but participants claim you need to bring about 5 people to donate (X) amount of money after which you'll be paid what you donated multiplied by 5 (*5).

4. Ultimate Cycler - This one nearly broke the internet as their site immediately gained exponential traffic in recent time as the scheme gained popularity in Nigeria they are now ranked No. 8 most visited in Nigeria ahead of Facebook, actually it should be 3rd on this list but at the  moment the site isn't fully functional so we had to downgrade them a bit.

5. Crowdrising - They are just like other schemes claiming to be a member to member donation scheme. .

Disclaimer warning: thenaijalisting.blogspot.com does not recommed any of these schemes as this is just for information purpose.

There are other schemes I deliberately left out especially the normal MLM (Multiple Level Marketing schemes).

MMM Nigeria One-Month Freezing (Potential crash)

Well I made a post earlier about the so called mutual benefit schemes trending in Nigeria with a clear warning that nothing good actually lasts forever and lately things have not been too good with these schemes especially after the Nigerian House of Assembly discussed the issue on the floor of the house some weeks ago, this came after several warnings from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and SEC ( Security and Exchange Commission).

Well the MMM office has been sending several messages to participants, some of which was sited by thenaijalisting.blogspot.com.

which goes like this.

"One-Month Freezing of Confirmed Mavros

Dear members!

As usual, in the New Year season the System is experiencing heavy workload. Moreover, it has to deal with the constant frenzy provoked by the authorities in the mass media. The things are still going well; the participants feel calm; everyone gets paid – as you can see, there haven’t been any payment delays or other problems yet – but!.. it is better to avoid taking risk.:-)) (Moreover, there are almost three weeks left to the New Year.)

Hence, on the basis of the above mentioned, from now on all confirmed Mavro will be frozen for a month.

The reason for this measure is evident. We need to prevent any problems during the New Year season, and then, when everything calms down, this measure will be cancelled. (Which we will definitely do.:-))

We hope for your understanding,
Administration"

This was of course after a poorly written message was apparently addressed at the House of Assembly in Nigeria.

"Honorable authorities,

So far MMM has come under a constant attack from you. In this regard, I would like to ask you a few simple questions. Since you are concerned with the interests of millions of your fellow citizens, I hope that  you would be so kind to answer them.

1. What are you trying to get? Do you want the MMM System to collapse and millions of people to suffer? Who will support them then if now MMM is their only means of livelihood? Will you? You even don’t pay wages to people? Or might you not care about them? Might you be using a trendy topic to make a good name for yourselves? What will you say to a mother who will have no money to buy food for her child? Will you let her child die for the sake of the higher interests of the economy?

2. You say that MMM is a scam. What is the scam here, if all members are warned in advance about all the risks, the possible and impossible ones? They know there are no investments at all. The warning is a red text on a yellow background placed on most prominent place of the website.

3. You say that MMM is bad. Why? Yes, it produces nothing, but nothing gets out of the country either. The money is just redistributed among the citizens of Nigeria. It gets from those who are richer to poorer ones, in this way restoring social justice. What''''s wrong with that?

4. You have repeatedly stated that "it should be investigated!.. researched!.." It means you know nothing about this System yet; you even haven’t understood how it works. Isn’t it completely irresponsible of you to make all these allegations and play with the lives of millions of ordinary people?

5. And finally. If you know what is right for people, why is the life so bad in the country?

Sincerely yours,

Sergey Mavrodi

P.S. As for your statement that "everything will collapse soon". The system has been working in Nigeria for a year, and according to your estimates, the total number of members now is  about 3 million people. In Nigeria the population is approximately 195 million. Can you calculate? Will it be “soon"? :-))

Yours sincerely,
Sergey Mavrodi
Together we change the world!
"

Most participants we spoke with before this time complained of getting matched with too many people and some even complained of getting matched immediately to Provide Help (PH), which obviously pointed to the fact that all was not well and as the festive season is around the corner a lot of people are a bit skeptical about the entire scheme.

Will it survive?
Is this the end?
Only time will tell but what is quite obvious is that all is not well.

1. Sexy white Mom and Sexy black Mom personally I don't see the fuss about this but apparently people were outraged when they typed these two different search key words into google and the results that popped up, some felt it was inappropraiate.

Top 5 Trending topics Nigeria 27/11 -03/12 2016

1.Ultimate Cycler - This is apparently another Ponzi scheme or some may call it multi level marketing scheme although you are not actually marketing any products, just like the popular MMM scheme but this one is different because it promises up to 300% ROI, in an apparent mutual benefit financial system, Although from my research the site has been on for sometime now but it just recently gained recognition and went viral in Nigeria, immediately after that just like the case of Giversforum which is another similar scheme the Ultimate cycler website has been down for days causing some participants to go into panic mode. Although there is a message claiming they are working behind the scene and there is even a video saying they are trying to serve participants better but until the site is back on and running people won't that that too seriously.

2. Chapecoense  - The death of staff and players of Brazilian football club side on their way to the finals, when their plane crashed over Columbia and many team members died as a result of the crash with just a few survivors has sent shock waves across the world and especially among football fans. Our hearts go out to their family members, Brazil.

3. Football- There were many footballing events I had to put all of them under one heading, congratulations to the Super Falcons of Nigeria for winning the AWCON ( African Women Cup of Nation)  defeating the Cameroonian side in the finals.

*The El Classico ended as a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid pulling one back very late in the match.

         * Chelsea maintained dominance of the English Premier League table (EPL) by defeating close contenders Manchester City with 3goals to 1, although Man city side received a couple of red cards. but Conte side has been very good up front and also has the best defense in the EPL at the moment.

4. Adebayo Ogunlesi - The Nigerian that President elect of the United States of America, Donald Trump has picked to be part of his economic team, Nigerians have been going wild screaming that instead of the current President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari to harness such talents to pull Nigeria out of its economic woes, instead the APC led government at the centre in Nigeria is more concerned about other trivial matters like how to increase internet tarrifs etc.

5. The Experience Lagos - Christain Musical concert was held in Lagos Nigeria , with several popular gospel artists.such as Don Moen, Frank Edwards, Choima etc
