3 things you'll find in an average Nigeria home

3 things you'll find in an average Nigeria home

1. A Generating set - Power Supply is such huge a problem in Nigeria, that most house holds in the rural areas are not even connected to the National Grid, while those in Urban areas may be connected but the number of hours a day consumers are given Power supply can be as low as 2 hours daily or even less or maybe zero as the case may be, for this reason every household in Nigeria that can afford these sets will purchase one, until recently there was the popular "I pass my Neighbor" generating set for small businesses and households.

2. Stabilizer (Voltage Regulator)- Those outside Nigeria will wonder what this device is doing in every home in Nigeria, but the frequent voltage surge in Nigeria makes these devices necessary to protect your expensive appliances like TVs etc, in Nigeria  you could have enough voltage to burn your bulbs the next minute you won't even have enough to see properly, it is so common that with high voltage devices such as Air conditioners and Fridges, users will always connect them to these surge protectors or stabilizers.

3. Rechargeable Torch or Lamp - Even in Hospitals, Hotels or Bars and other service areas where one would expect constant power supply the reverse is the case, and in the case of sudden blackout for those precious few seconds, the rechargeable Lamps or Torch will come in handy until probably the generating set comes on , although these days with the advent of phones with Torch light features like the popular"Nokia Torch" and andriod phones this isn't too  necessary.
