A list of Universities in Nigeria offering Medicine and
Surgery.
This list is a response to a post I made about popular destination
to study Medicine abroad for Nigerians link. But here is a list of Universities in Nigeria offering Medicine and Surgery according to the Joint Admissions and
Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the meaning of the acronyms of these
institutions.
Why Medicine? – Personally I feel with the high rate of unemployment in the country Doctors stand a better chance of getting employed , and with poor wages paid by government in Ministries across Nigeria, Doctors get paid fairly or relatively ‘Okay’also helping humanity, it’s no wonder the requirements for entry into these institutions are very high.

I must mention that Doctors work long hours and in high
risk environment and sometimes they even pay the ultimate sacrifice in the line
of duty, like the case of Dr. Stella Adadevoh during the Ebola saga in Nigeria.
I must mention that they are not alone or an island they need the help of other
related fields like “laboratory scientists, laboratory technicians, Nurses, Pharmacists etc.)
