Top 5 Nigerian Soups

Nigerian soups usually go down with Garri, FUFU, Wheat, Semovita, Pounded yam etc.

1. Egusi soup - The first Egusi soup or the history of egusi soup is still sketchy, but actually no one cares, the good thing about Egusi or Melon soup, is that it is very easy to prepare and the ingredients are readily available in the market and the soup cuts across the country.

2. Okro (Draw Soup)  - Okro or Okra as the case may be, I'm not here to argue about the correct spelling or specie. This is one of the quickest and easiest Nigerian soup to cook, onces the meat or other ingredients are ready you just need to add the chop Okro with other ingredients and thats all.

3. Vegetable Soup - Made from leafy green vegetables, mainly pumpkin leaves, although there are other variants with a mixture of pumpkin ugwu leaves and water leaf. etc. or Spinach can be used to replace pumpkin leaves, if it isn't readily available.

4. Oha Soup - prepared with cocoyam and Oha leaves, this soup looks so mouth watering. I can't help it but feel hungry anytime I see a picture of it.

5. Bitter leaf soup - Made with similar ingredients like Oha soup, but the Oha leaf is replaced with bitter leaf, what I love most about this soup is after eating it taking a glass of water feels so "sweet" although as the name implies it does not mean it is bitter at all, A well prepared bitter leaf soup will keep you wanting more.
