Pictures kids who grew up in Nigeria in the 90's will relate to

Growing up in Nigeria in the 90's was quite tough, then there were no mobile phones, Television and Video machines was a luxury for the upper middle class and elite, most TV sets were black and white and most often power supply was a problem, kids had to keep busy and probably invented games to keep busy after school some of these games will be written down here while others things that will make you remember your childhood if you grew up in Nigeria will also be uploaded here. This is a work in progress as such, whenever we remember more stuff and we can get pictures of them, we will upload.

1.Canter ball- Probably the kind of all games for male kids, this involved a full squad of players with a goal post and a goal keeper, we really got creative with the goal keepers after a while, the ball could be any round object or after a while we started using the white stuff in radio cassette.

2. Saving box - Although this isn't a game, before all the numerous online banking or mobile banking whenever parents wanted to teach children the culture of saving, they'll get a saving box, unfortunately for me mine didn't last too long, because I always needed cash.

3. Okoso - This wasn't a game as such but something people did to showing how cool a spinning object would look like or something, It was usually made from tiger head batteries plastic top part and bic pen's cover.

4.Catapualt, when boys or kids in general got creative and would love to go hunting, hunting things from lizards to birds, to whatever living creature they'll like, after which some will use syringes and stuff water in the animals, that was animal cruelty right there.

5. Kites - Flying kites was probably the beginning of the studies of aerodynamics, usually made from plastic bags , and broom sticks, with lots of (thread) rope.

6. Rubber ring - The games or activities that kids engaged with, with rubber bands or rings were numerous, Throwing, playing them on the ground, using them to make stuff etc.

7. Wording- This is where two or more participants or Kid will battle who has the "baddest" mouth, it will go on for as long as both participants still have new "jokes" or insults to dish out to the other.
Typically it goes like'

"You dey craze, you dey mad'" "with your tum tum belle like skeliwawa" " You sh8t here , sh8t here call am 3 wise men" etc.

please add more in the comment box below.
